Another Big Zero for Employees
The end of the year is approaching, which for many is a time for reflection. So we did a small review ourselves – we looked at the INGKA GROUP tax report and summed up how we performed over the past year:
-
Net profit FY25: EUR 1.4 billion (FY24: EUR 0.8 billion)
-
Business units and other formats: 620 (FY24: 547)
-
Total assets: EUR 61.5 billion (FY24: EUR 57.6 billion)
And in the Czech Republic?
-
Revenue: EUR 562,743,000 (FY24: EUR 546,833,000)
-
Number of employees: decrease from 2,300 to 2,064 in FY25
One might say it was a very successful year: the company is growing, generating profits, investing on a large scale. It is therefore entirely natural for us employees to expect that this success would also be reflected towards those who physically create it every day. Apparently, however, this is still not enough.
Despite all these figures, the TACK! pension contribution will not be paid this year. The same TACK! that was meant to be an expression of gratitude for the work done and for loyalty. This time, gratitude was resolved simply – not at all.
And now came the second expression of gratitude: as most of us already know, the January wage increase is to be postponed indefinitely. The value of our work thus continues to decline – at a time when we have still not even remotely recovered from the extreme inflation of 2022 (15.1%). Profits are rising. The number of employees is falling. Compensation for work? Falling as well.
If the result of high profits is another big zero for employees, then not only solidarity but also trust disappears. IKEA without employees is just a blue box with cold meatballs.
Conclusion from the Trade Unions
To Employees
The unions are not here to calm you with empty phrases. We are here to name reality. We are here to clearly say that this outcome is neither an accident nor a necessity, but a decision. And that without pressure and a shared stance, nothing will change. If our work is to have value, we must defend it together.
To the Employer
The figures show that the company does not have problems. Long-term success cannot be built solely on cost-cutting and people's patience. And growth that is not reflected in employees is not sustainable. If the company is to have a long and successful future, it is time to start reflecting success internally as well – towards its employees, not only in annual reports. We therefore hope that a reassessment will take place soon and that our work as employees will finally receive at least some recognition.
